Hmmm....... sunny, breezy - 15 gusting to 25 easterly = chilly. What is it with this year's weather? We're having beautiful days but any wind and out of the sun and it's chilly. Monday I wore armwarmers, gilet AND a lightweight windproof jacket.....in June! My neck/head are OKish, this morning after going to bed feeling crap, not great but liveable.

Today we're going to RHS Bridgwater with our u3a, the visit includes a guided tour. Will be fun. Next task is to make our picnic as the cafe prices are outrageous. I suspect it will be my turn to make tea tonight so I'll see what there is and prepare something before we go.

Kids on ebikes and escooters? Seems to be the lad's fault based on local news reports. There will be more. Deregulated, fast, no protection, very exposed. It's inevitable and given the riding I've seen always likely to end in a death.

Speaking of ebikes. A couple cruised by us on a local climb on Monday. By the next T-junction we had passed them!

Good morning all.
Some tidying up in the house to do, dog to be walked, and this afternoon is a meeting of the escape committee at the Ding Dong, (Railway Bell).🍺
I've been eating very healthy food all week, that may go out the window today. 😄

I always reason that you have to eat unhealthy food occasionally, otherwise, it wouldn’t exist.

I mean, it stands to reason, you can’t have healthy food, without unhealthy food?, there would just be food.

Logic, init?

It seems that Powys Council take any opportunity to not do the job we as tax payers pay them to do. Week 2 and the bins still haven't been picked up. They did the main bins yesterday but that's it. What a shambles. GGGrrrrrr

I despair of local councils now. They are a lazy shower of shite. I often watch big groups of them sent to a job. Two men actually working and four or five others standing watching, chatting and checking their phones. No wonder everything costs so much. The council adopted our local walks as core paths, but expect volunteers to maintain them. Used to be, they sent a few men out with strimmers but that's too much like hard work for them these days..........and don't get me started on the roads!

We live on a narrow lane where only 1 car at a time can drive up or down it. In the summer it becomes very overgrown and you can't see round any corners. They used to pay the local farmers to cut the edges back, but they have stopped it now. Its quite dangerous.

I agree
round here we have the oldest canal in the country
it was kept "in water" by the nearby coal fired power station which fed some of the used up cooling water into it
The power station has closed down and Warrington council took measure to replace the water source for their end

but Halton seem to have reckoned that if the top end is filled up then clearly the water will just flow down to their end so they just ignored the problem
except that there are blocks inbetween (its complicated) so the Warrington end if fine and pretty and nice

the Widnes end is now a smelly dried up mess and apparently the canal walls need repair before anything can be done

they have said lots of words about how concerned they are and how they are doing something and how good it is that volunteer groups have been rescuing fish and water birds and clearing up and all that

I have written (OK emailed - is that the same thing???) the local counsellors and MP and put messages on the local "Nextdoor" thingy
bet it makes no difference

{end Rant}

Morning. Yet another cool, overcast start here but supposed to be sunny later.

I see another teenager has killed himself on an e-bike. Not much detail yet, but I suspect another illegal one no doubt. As long as people can get their hands on illegal bikes or mod them themselves this will keep happening. No doubt the family will try and blame the police again. Better not say any more as I will be getting told it should be in NACA.
I go past a guy close to us on a fairly regular basis, he's on an ebike and I can't overtake him when I'm doing 30mph. He's not a young kid, looks 30/40 years old, no helmet, only general black work clothing (even on dark mornings on a country road with no street lighting).

Our Council has spent million of pounds on a new massive building which is mostly unoccupied so , apparently, the word is that they are now going to sell it because it is not used enough. :cursing: If it is true, I bet they will sell it at a fraction on what it costs us. Once again, somebody is going to make a nice profit on the back of rate payers.

Do what I did. Get on your bike, and take yer bin to be emptied. Ensuring you have a sign big enough to be easily read saying what you're doing and why.
They've not "missed" since.
