Mo, let no one say I don't listen to you. I had 2 of each and enjoyed them.

That’s me sorted the car insurance renewal too.

With the AA last year it was £175, with a renewal offer of £308, discounted to £288 if there were no changes and I renewed online. The meerkat gave me quotes starting at £231 so I’ve switched to another provider at that price.

I’d tried Bank of Scotland first at £231 but after clicking through to them and making no changes, they bumped the price to £318!

I’m going to look at breakdown cover now…

It utterly beggars belief that Paula Vennells got a CBE for Services to the Post Office, instead of jail time.
It beggars believe that nobody at Fujitsu was sent to prison.
It beggars belief that Angela van den Bogerd also escaped doing time.
The entire debacle is a total shambles of British Justice.
It is an outrage.
It's simply yet another example of blind faith in IT. The Post Office developed and introduced Horizon. No doubt their IT geeks tested it under 'battle conditions' and deemed it workable without any thought to how normal folk in their employ would deal with the system.

I think it also shows the arrogance of some senior managers who refuse to accept that sometimes they are wrong and still refuse to acknowledge the short comings of systems put in to run the company.

I understand there is a petition to have Vennell's CBE rescinded. Haven't had time to look for it yet

One of the Mail columnists is calling for Vennels to return her CBE.

It seems to have escaped that Mails notice that even if she were to return the medal she would still be a CBE. Once received the recipient cannot divest themselves of the honour.

The only route is, as you say, for it to be formally withdrawn.

Except they didn’t develop it.
They bought the system from the lowest bidder, Fujitsu.
They then refused to look at the clear evidence that it was not fit for purpose, and instead pursued their own witch hunt of sub postmasters.
A fair old summary at good old Computer Weekly here, who did their utmost to pursue the truth - scroll down to see just how many articles they wrote over the many years.

Just awful.
& now Sunak and Starmer refuse to call out the evil Paula Vennells, who really should be behind bars. & Ed Davey claiming he was misled by the PO back in the day…..that’s how good he is as a leader 🙄

Still. There are boxes of decorations to be put back in the loft tomorrow, & some wood panels to be painted, so not everything is bad in the world 🤣

Chilly walk done. Just had to wander round the town as I headed out the door so quickly I forgot to lift my head torch so couldn't go off road. Interesting walking along one of the more affluent housing estates I started counting the cars in drives. The biggest majority had 2, quite a few had 3 and one even had 4. The drives with only 1 car were in the minority.

Morning all :hello:

Got to nip out for a loaf first thing.
Mates are stopping overnight and should be here at 5pm.
Talking of cars on drives, I've got to move MrsD's car up to the house so our friends can park out the front. I've got enough space to park 10 cars off road if need be.
