Yes - apparently
I am rather unsure if the car is actually locked or not - did it unlock when the keys moved 1mm closer at some point??
but no-one nicked it overnight
If you had the "key" (actually a bit of plastic) on your person, our previous car, a Renault Captur locked when you walked away from it, and, unlocked when you walked within about a metre of it.
It was therefor quite difficult to check if it was actually locked.
This one, a Toyota Yaris:
to lock, with the "key" on your person, you touch a specific ridged area of either the driver or passenger door handle (it is at least clear that it has locked, because, the door mirrors fold in automatically).
to unlock, with the key on your person, you just operate any door handle (or the tailgate) and it unlocks.
It is also possible to lock/unlock remotely, from an app on your mobile phone.
From the same app, you can switch the heating (sorry, climate control) on and warm the car up, defrost windows etc, remotely. I am not sure how far away you can be, and this still works, but, I think, you could be on the other side of the world. No, I cannot think of a reason why you would want to do that, from Australia
