Ok fellow retirees, I am asking if anyone has experience with garden furniture. Now Mrs Tkk's shed has gone we have an area that catches the sun later in the day. I had a flash of inspiration and thought a cushioned swing with some sort of cover might suit the area well. I had a quick look online but asking for advice / experiences.

We have got a couple of those big umbrella things with weights (plastic - you fill them with water) holding them down

They create far more shade if that is important to you

we also have some metal chairs - not folding but the ones with a square seat cushion and a back cushion
the cushions are just about OK - but we will replace the form with something better - this way we can get what we want and not have to depend on the people making it

Just watching a docu drama about the plane crash on Lockerbie

always reminds be of a trip to Chepstow working - we were installing a new computerised conveyor system

a "business manager" was there at the same time and insisted that the 2 of us came to dinner with him and his assitant (I don;t think he realised what rank we were - he just assumed we were "functionaries")

anyway - he was blathering on about how wonderful he was and how he was incharge of new store opening

he commented that he had been in charge of opening a major new store in Scotland when the crash happened and was on the news

he commented that his first thought was "Oh my GOD - I hope the lorries can get through!!!"
and he was serious - not just a first thought before it sank it

probably one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard

sorry - just had to tell someone

Not achieved anything today, but my man flu is a bit better,
made spaghetti cheese for lunch and syrup sponge pudding and custard it was nice.
Ordered a large hold all for my new RC car so I can carry it around and take to the park
as it is too fast for the garden, 65mph on tarmac, not too sure how it will go on grass,
but should get 45mph + if the grass is short.
It'd make short work of the grass at that speed.
Could you fit a small mower on it?

Not for much longer as our estimed leader Sir Keir, has done some sort of deal with the EU, and passport control using the E gates abroad is part of it. 😁
If the individual countries agree.🤔

Yes, I was reading about the potential E gate agreement. I'm serious now. Does this mean "electronic" or "European"? When I go through electronic gates it's usually 50/50 success rate. Yesterday mine didn't work because my luggage was in the wrong place!!!! Mrs P has never successfully been through an electronic gate in or out of the EU.

Interesting side comment. This is our first trip to an EU country in 4/5 years. I had expected and received passport stamp. What I hadn't expected was long queues at the EU citizens passport control and virtually nothing at the non-EU passport section - electronic failures aside.

I have the same problem with self-scan at supermarkets.. There's always an unexpected bag in the item area or summat 🤷‍♂️

Barnet,
Good morning all from a sunny Barnet.
Dog walking shortly, then Sainsbury's are delivering the weekly goodies.
Today is Runner Bean day. I'll be putting up the canes and then planting out 15 plants which are now about 9 inches high. Only two French bean plants grew so they will go in amongst them, and I'll sow some more seed.
