Good day all.
Nice sunny start to the day.
Cuppa and bickies have been enjoyed and I am now listening to Tony Blackburn with SoTS. I agree with him that it was/is THE best decade for music.
I should get a mid morning walk in later.

Morning all, I do totally agree with the fact the 60s had the best music , even though the 70s and 80s were the music sound track of my younger days . I am not so sure that Tony’s personal choices and favourites reflect this . 😂 😀

I should really start making a shopping list. Just back and realised I have forgotten milk. Oh well, there’s enough until tomorrow anyway.

The sky is getting dark again so I wouldn’t discount some showers soon.

I have a pad n pen. Everything I think of something I need I jot it down. If I didn't do that I would forget half of what I need.

Suns out in the Faroes - a few adventurous types have tried cycle tours there, you have to use the subsea road tunnels to get between the islands which seems to be the worst part, cycling isn't banned in them but they aren't the best for cycling. You can tell the visitors from the locals on the webcams, the summer high is 13 to 14 C, the locals are all in shorts and tee shirts, the visitors in coats and hats ^_^

For me a lot of it is nostalgia (I know, it's a thing of the past) as I was dragged up on Merseyside and at aged 15 was working in Liverpool. Everyone knew a member of some well known group (or knew someone else who did) eg I lived, literally within a few hundred yards of the keyboard player from the Pacemakers, the lead singer of a local well known group that also worked with the Beatles and for a short while worked with Tony Crane of the Merseybeats (till he made it big). So 60s music was a big part of my teenage life.

Back from my walk. Surprisingly cool and breezy out there.
Coffee.
I don't drink enough of it to justify a good machine but am slightly jealous of those that have one.
I do have a Tassimo pod machine which is OKish......better than instant.
I am about to have an iced coffee now which I find refreshing.

Nope.....but I did remember a little welding job I needed to do. That took all of 5 minutes.
Ended up going to the Blue Anchor Bay car boot sale this afternoon. Nearly bought an old quick release Record vice for 25 quid, but it was too big and heavy to lug to my my car. Pity really, as tidied up and with new jaws it would be worth well over a ton.

Just been off to Dunelm Mill to pick up a new frotn door mat

My wife ordered it on click and collect so I went off to get it

WOW
that was more fo an adventure than I expected!!!
normally it is a quick whizz up Speke Boulevard (big dual carrigeway thing) , past Speke Retail Park and it is on the right - 15 minutes at most

anyway - "they" have decided to close Speke Boulevard for a few days - totally

so I followed the diversion and started wonder "!where in the name of all the Gods, the pixies and the little faires is this diversion going???"
anyway - I realised the only way that would work was pretty much into Liverpool and back out again so I went right round Tarbock Island roundabout (which is probably a couple of miles round!) and back

intending to cut through Ditton, Halebank and Hale and onto Liverpool Airport and then into Speke that way

but someone has decided that this is also a good time to have roadworks and temporary traffic lights on that route as well!!

took over an hour to get there

did manage to take a short cut on the way back using a route I have found when cycling round there and looking for country roads
but it was still a LONG way round

so a trip that shouldhave taken 30 minutes or so turned out to be well over an hour and a half
(and might have involved a cafe stop in DUnelm Mill)

I’ve started bingeing a series that I seem to have missed called The Gone on iplayer. Really good so far, although the sound quality isn’t great. I’ve got the sound turned way up to nearly 30. Most things 10 to 12 is loud enough.

We find we need subtitles on a lot of things

I am especially bad if the lighting is dark so I can;t see their lips move

I reckon it is the quality of the speakers in the tellys nowadays
they go all in to make them thin and all that but the speakers can never bee all that good if they are at the back and very narrow!

I do wonder if it is worth getting a sound bar or linking it into a proper hifi system with proper speakers

but I have never gone as far as spending money on it!
