Good morning from a damp and grey Dorset. Yesterday was so dreich ( see, I'm picking up Mo's idioms ) that I never left the house. Felt a bit guilty last night about evicting the cat that has adopted us. He was fast asleep on Mrs Tkk's comfy chair, but I knew if he didn't go out there'd be an owner worrying. Despite the lack of exercise I slept like a log, I must have been exhausted from reading about the lady vet from the IOM who set a new World record in the World 24 Hour Championships held in France over the weekend. Sarah Webster ran a little over 173 miles and smashed the ladies world record. Apparently she's a relative newcomer, so come on Mo, time to up your game, you've got the best part of a year to up that training mileage 😁

Morning.
Not actually raining but it has been pouring down and Toby came in at 0400 or something, yowled then jumped on bed soaking wet. Nice.
The other two just sleep all night.

Anyway, big news is.....we're back out to Mallorca next week! Same as last year, we get home from holiday, the weather is crap so immediately the wife and I spend hours checking out where to go next. So, Alucdia it is and that's a great base to ride from so I'll be up and and down mountains whenever possible.

I stayed up the road in Pollenca and cycled to Alcudia a few times.....very nice.

Yes we've stayed in that area a couple of times previously and it's perfect location to get out to Formentor lighthouse, Sa Calobra, Puig Major etc so I'm planning on hitting all those. I went 2 years ago at same time, end Oct and it was perfect as weather still warm but it's much quieter then. Usually the north of island is rammed with tourists, cyclists etc but it's now end of season, in fact our flight home after 10 days is one of last flights out on regular holiday packages. Last week we were in Camp de Mar which is beautiful but nice to go different area again.

Many years ago our family stayed in the Hotel Morè which is on the beach outside Alcudia. Swimming pool overlooks the sea.
When I cycled there a few years ago the hotel had been brought up to date and looked very nice.
I sat outside with a nice cool beer

Little story
When I was "the IT person" at a Primary school - my last job

The fax broke - they knew because the paper had jammed when they tried to use it to copy something

anyway - I looked at it and it was just broken - something inside was worn out and it was ancient and not worth fixing
I think it was installed by Moses's dad

anyway - I commented that maybe they don;t need one any more - this was about not all that long ago so....

they insisted that it was ESSENTIAL and they need it
on asking they were sure they use it every week - certainly every other week and it was certainly needed

I checked the log - it was new enough to have a basic log inside showing when it was used
last fax sent or received was 2 years before!!!!

They were actually shocked
they honestly thought they used it every week

but they hadn't
