Back home.

Took the van as I dont find Mrs Ds car fery comfortable and didnt fancy cramming 3 humans, 2 dogs and a crap load of Christmas presents in there.

Slide down the wall in big chunks ??

I am reminded of the poem:

the boy stood in the dining room
whence all but he had fled
it was his hundredth cup of tea
five hundredth piece of bread.
”another crust, before I bust”
he cried in accents wild
”another crust, before I bust”
(he was a vulgar child).
there came a bang, a thunderclap
the boy, oh where was he?
ask of the maid who mopped him up
amidst the bread and tea

Walked from the hotel to Kirkstall Abbey via the Leeds Liverpool canal. Just over 5 miles. Unfortunately the cafe was closed so we had a couple of pints in the local pub before heading back to the daughters for yesterday's leftovers. Back at the hotel now, we head to London in the morning to stay with the son for a couple of days.
I set the heating to " Holiday mode" when we left on Monday, the house has slowly dropped in temperature and is currently 12.3 degrees. It's supposed to automatically reheat the house back to 21 degrees in time for our return on Monday 🤞

Yes, eldest daughter lives in Leeds. Grandson will be 16 on the 29th of this month. Our first grandchild, we came up to be around when he was born and had booked a few days at a hotel at the Armouries. Ended up staying a fortnight in the hotel as he was a late delivery😮
Good things come to those who wait.

Huge rafts of seaweed on the beach today :okay: would pick some up with a wheelbarrow but the sea has eroded into the golf coarse making a 10ft or so step to climb.
Not going to buy a Thorn Mercury as they've changed spec and only have 2 crappy colours  so have been browsing contenders whilst munching chocolate and drinking coffee and reckon a Stanforth Skylander rohloff in British racing green will do, anyone like to buy me one feel free :okay::laugh:

not sure what colour this is

Don't disagree about the Mercury specs but I rather like the orange colour.

I did my apprenticeship at Kirkstall Forge which used be next door to the Abbey founded by the monks.
