Bonjour to a very wet and windy North Wales.
I tried to make an appointment to see my doctor this morning and after waiting 15 minutes on the phone, I was told all appointments are booked up for today, try again at 8 am tomorrow morning.
Why can't I book one for tomorrow now instead of trying again at 8 am and be told that all lines are engaged, try again later.
I am not surprised our A&E department up here is overflowing as it is impossible to see a local GP.

DUnno how it works in the remote parts of the empire

but I help out with Age UK and often help older people (looks at thread title knowingly!) with the NHS Ap

One of the things that works here in the heart of the Empire is using the NHS App and using the "contect you GP abotu a health problem"

it does go through a lot of questions
but the GP will read it today and if they think you need an appointment then they have extras they can allocate if they think they are needed


whether or not this is how it should work in another matter
but it works when I do it - with our GP

I did get a phone call saying "can you be here in 30 minutes - we have just had a cancellation" once!!

Same here, and the strange thing is, on the odd occasion I’ve actually gone in to speak to a receptionist, the waiting room is almost deserted!

This is very noticeable at our practice and genuinely believe it's because the system is working better as it allows non-urgent appointments like mine to spread through the day.

We get good telephone triage very easily.

But, like yours, our GP practice with 8 doctors has waiting rooms that are completely empty. Might be due to being more efficient?

I was reading through the " Ten talking points from the weekend action " article in the Guardian football coverage. Local team Bournemouth ( up the cherries! 🍒 ). The report on the Wolves game finished with " Bournemouth have signed a player the elite will soon enough covet, with the same going for Eli Junior Kroupi, scorer of Bournemouth’s excellent first goal.". Bournemouth are a great footballing side to watch, but it's frustrating knowing that the Dodgy oil state backed money clubs will soon come swooping to take our best players ( and Manager probably ).

But, without the usual 'top 6' clubs with enormous global reach, the EPL would not be, by far, the richest league in the world.

Something The Cherries directly benefit from.

Similarly, the huge fees paid to 'feeder clubs' for upcoming players, are a major income stream to the selling club.

I’d like to do a bit more this year but there’s just no let up with this horrible weather. We appear to have rain/sleet every single day until at least the middle of the month.

I haven't looked this far ahead but certainly January was a weather write off. We spoke about this yesterday. My buddy does quite a lot of long distance Audax. Looking at his training for recent Januarys - 2022/1000m, 2023/800m, 2024/0 - illness. For 2026 we managed 119

Finding the motivation for solo rides would be beyond me in winter. 👏 to anyone who does.

Our strategy is if there's a slight chance to ride we make our plans. If the day dawns cr@p we cancel.

I keep getting a request to complete a survey about my Dr's practice. So far I have ignored it as I have little good to say.

Vet unsure about Bruce. He's recommended a dog food for sentivr tummies, and some doggy probiotics. If it continues I've to take a poop sample to the vet for testing.

He seems fine now, but that seems to change in an instant when the pukes and squirts arrive.

They always do! No doubt bought from them at an extortionate price? If he does well on it, I would look into getting something similar online. Zooplus is my go to for pet stuff.

As I said, I've never had a dog (or a cat) but can imagine it's very upsetting for you.
