Morning.
Dry but a bit overcast.
Tip run then off for blood test.
Had a lovely end to day yesterday, daughter announced toilet/shower not emptying in ext. I check access hatch, full. Myself and wife then had a grim couiple hours trying to unblock blockage in sewer pipe. Not joy. Time to ring the pros.
Fortunately, only affects extension not rest of house. Hopefully easy fix with right equipment.

Magnesium is important for bone density and can aid, for some people, sleep. I'm not sure it helps me sleep but my bone density is measurably increasing, a result of exercise and probably magnesium. Increasing bone density is the opposite of most older people.

Especially if you also take a highish dose of vitamin d. The magnesium helps the calcium go to the bones rather than your arteries.

Morning. Chilly but bright start for us but showers due by lunchtime. I finally needed to put petrol in the car so did that then carried on over to Auchterarder and did a walk there for a change. It's a nice town. Slightly less population than Crieff but a much nicer High Street with a great selection of shops. Several decent walking trails too. If Ernie ever deigns himself to come to my door, I would contemplate moving over there.

Good morning folks. Managed to get out for a run yesterday, my first for a few weeks. Quads are weak and I almost stumbled when my left quad protested on a gentle downhill. Mrs Tkk hasn't been doing much walking due to her knee pain, she has a consultation with the doctor on Friday to discuss the results of her X ray ( not good, she saw the results in the NHS app )
Sadly she has lost confidence on the bike too. The brand new G line is unused due to the extra height making mounting too painful/ awkward, and when she took her standard brommie out yesterday she came back saying she had to get off and walk on occasion due to lack of riding confidence. I have offered to accompany her but she says that would put extra pressure on her. Hopefully a little each day will get her confidence back, sad to see such a change in someone who has solo'd LeJog. 😕

Getting older is a real bummer. I am, I think the word is philosophical. I dont like it but accept what I've got (or haven't got  ) and enjoy what i can do.

The tablets I take say 375mg magnesium + B6.......I've no idea if that's high or not.

I take 25 microgrammes of Vitamin D
because I was told to

Dietician say that seems to have boosted my stores so I should be able to take the lower dose plus calcium

no-one has mentioned magnesium

it is all rather confusing - especially as summer is coming up so my body should make Vitamin D itself now - especially if I can start getting out on my bike more

I have seen tablets for normal levels of Vitamin D plus calcium in Tesco - maybe I should swap to thee
or not

When i was taken into hospital they put me on 4 different drips. One was magnesium and that's what the Doc hadn't been able to correct. OK, in hospital I was diagnosed as dangerously low and according to my last blood test I am what the Doc called "borderline ok" (very encouraging I dont think). Taking the tablets was/is my choice as they weren't prescribed and I dont understand that.
BUT, i'm eating well, sleeping well and am walking better so will take that.

Hmmm

It does seem to be difficult working out what is best

I have to sort out an appointment with the doctor
lots of bits and pieces have changed and we need to sort it all out
nutrition is just part of it

I am in the middle fo putting together the text of what to say to him/her online to give them some background and details and make me/us a face-to-face appointment

when I say "us" I mean my wife will come with me - sometimes I miss things the dr says and she remembers
or she and notice things the Doc is getting wrong when I'm talking

anyway - better get that done!

I didn't know that. Thanks. I've taken vitamin D for 25 - 30 years

I'm on the same dosage. I think it's quite standard

Good morning. A beautiful day here, warm and sunny after a very hard frost. I never know what to say. I see my neighbours, usually young and inexperienced busy on their allotment or in the garden with delicate plants, seedlings etc. Do I lean casually over the fence and warn them not to plant anything out until May 15th or do I leave them alone. Mrs P says I'm a pessimist and should leave them be. Oh well.

Back to normal. We've had a nonstop two weeks of visitors, family holiday and more visitors. The last left yesterday, today is just childminding. Mrs P's brother was here from South Africa, and sad to say we discovered he has Dimentia, early but it's there. He's 72, I'll be 72 this year. He's been retired 17 years, me 10. I'm active, busy, physically and mentally stimulated. As far as I can tell he does sweet bugger all.................I'm not saying I won't suffer in the future but I think it makes a huge difference to keep very busy.

Onwards. Washing to hang out before Mrs P returns with the small one. They've gone jumping.............junior gym club.
