The Earl held up over the line was obviously going to happen.

The Earl held up over the line was obviousl

It's all about the hands, not the way the ball travels guys.
No idea on either of the passes which was the hands were facing

Hands going backwards don’t send a ball 5m forward even allowing for momentum. For me both were clear forward passes but one was called as the white line meant it couldn’t be ignored. I’m all for fast play and tries but not having forward passes is pretty fundamental to the sport.

Not sure why Finn wasn't MotM = he wasn't even on their shortlist.

And why the plaudits for Earl? He was decidedly average today. Lile Pillock, he does a lot of the showy stuff but not enough of the graft.
England need changes at 15 and 12, plus bring Lawrence into 13 and put Freeman on the wing.

Agree with all of that. Not often that the side that dominated the set piece loses even with 14 men. Disappointed.

England scored two!

You know what I meant, and they'd only scored one when I posted,
They then scored one at the death, but other than the Arundel try they really never looked like scoring because they kept msking terrible decisions, often by Earl and Steward.
They can't afford Freeman learning to be a 13 in internationals either.
Dingwall was anonymous, there are a number of proper full backs better than Steward but Borthwick won't pick them.

Longer term, today could be good for England

I was amazed Russell didn’t get on the shortlist but I’d have given it to Darge though. Steyn was very good too though.

It felt like more than an 11 point game. Considering England were down to 14 for 20 minutes the score feels fairly respectable. Scotland probably had their worst part of the game during the 20 minute red though, they went off the boil a bit.
