Buying stuff in shops.

Back in the olden days if you had the correct change and there was a queue at the till, you just left the money and went on your way. Now you have to wait for a feckin bar code to be scanned so they can manage their stock control. Their time is more important than ours obviously.

And.

When you want to delete something on a device, the bloody thing interrogates you to ascertain if you really want to do it, like you don't know your own mind.

Grrrrrr!

Pinterest. What's that for? I've read on Wikipedia about it and I still don't get it.

Anyone else?

Pinterest is fabulous! It is simple, say you wanted to make a skirt, you look it up on Pinterest and it links to blogs, websites etc which can give you ideas or teach you how. I love it!

It's for sharing pictures. So rather than sharing your status of "Ooh look I've just had breakfast" you can share a picture you've found of a scantily clad person or a minion with funny caption

I use it for references when I'm doing the scenery for the village panto. It's an easy way to pull together and organise lots of ideas, and share them with the rest of the company.

If I ever got any help with the design stage, I could probably use it to see the references other people had found too.

I've just signed up to see if I can make head or tail of it and to see if there's any Dawes Kingpin posts.

I like pictures. I used to see images on the interweb I liked and would right click, view image, save the image in a folder on my hard drive them promptly forget about it and where i'd got it from. With Pinterest it's just a one click operation which streamlines the whole "Oh i like that picture and I'm going to grab it" process. It makes sorting and organising them easy, retains the original location for future reference and once it's learned what sort of stuff i like, suggests similar things. I don't expect anyone else to be interested in my 'pins', but here's my pinboards anyway.

As for things I just don't get in the modern world... my microwave. It has a digital clock which somehow gains about three minutes over the course of around four weeks. It's electronic, always plugged into the mains and in this day and age, making an electronic clock that's accurate should be easy enough to do... yet the manufactures of this microwave oven have failed, unless of course modern microwave technology holds the key to time travel?
