Things I don't 'get' in this modern world

Cold, clammy, damp-in-the-mouth pre-pack sandwiches. Bread made of sand. Cemented with clingy, sticky-gunk, "mayonnaise". Improbably coloured. You know - the ones in triangular plastic packs, with the offensive "farm-fresh" kind of label. Made in Middlesbrough, and trucked to Leeds; or made in Leeds and trucked to Middlesbrough.

Revolting. Disgusting. Long live old-fashioned bakers, who pile freshly made rolls with fresh-cut salad, a freshly boiled and sliced egg, and cheese grated that morning - and offer you the choice of salad cream, "mayonnaise", OR NOTHING AT ALL!

Hear hear.
People seem to think this is the way these things are supposed to taste.
It's why I love stumbling on farms with handwritten signs "Fresh bread,Eggs,Milk and Cheese. ^_^

Flavoured Penguins. Green ones tasting of mint. Orange ones tasting of orange. It's clearly against all that is right and proper, but they taste okay.

If you have a 'contactless' credit or debit card, you can use that. Then there's no need to buy a ticket or Oyster Card for London transport. What is good about that is that you will only be charged the maximum daily rate if you do a lot of journeys and changes.

Oh yes, most escalators (all on the underground) do have a sign saying 'keep right'
Up to London this weekend. With regard to contactless credit cards, do you just flash it on the machine at the beginning and end of your journey, the same as Oyster cards, or is there a different procedure? Thank you.

Yes .

Handy hint with Oyster cards. Don't try and use your staff canteen e-payment card in an oyster machine.
