So a quick J Arthur was never on the cards then ?

but I have been positively identified as gay several times due my wrists being more mobile than most men
once officialy when HR started to look at equality amd decided to start by asking managers for a list of gay men and women in their department
and "everyone knew I was gay"

and when I ws a teacher and the kids knew I was gay
which was funny when there was a very openly gay man teaching just down the corridor
he looked like a stereotypical blond beserker Viking - long blond hair and powerful chest and all that
and had pro gay stickers and posters all over his classroom and did the annual AIDS talk in assembly

bu no - I was the gay one!!!

This is true.
When I was maybe 3 or 4 years old my Mum told me that, with practice, I would be able to pick myself up and carry myself. The way to do it (she said) was to crouch down, put your hands under your bum and lift.
I clearly recall desperately trying and (for some reason) failing to do this.

That is proper parenting!!!

I can imagine my Dad saying that

and the grand kids could certainly imagine me saying it to them!!!

now I have to work out how to persuade the 13 year old to try it!

Freefall Parachuting, tried once never again….
I had problems getting the hang of it initially, but eventually I tumbled to it.

My main fear would be the first bit

not falling or opening the chute
but me thinking about not opening the chute

I knew someone very well at one point and he had a chance of doingit for a charity and turned it down for that reason

he was very honest about it

and I started thinking and realised I might as well

not depression or anything like that

just - something else

dunno

I can swim but don't enjoy it and would only do it under suffrance as al alternative to drowning.

I can swim but I only ever learned breast stroke. My knee surgeon told me never to do breast stroke because of the rotation forces on the knees. So I guess I can't swim anymore.

But I'd risk it if the alternative was drowning
