Seen a few at charity shops now, though. Two full sets in Carrickfergus just a couple of weeks ago. £1 per volume - late eighties. I wonder how much they'd have cost originally?.
I inherited a complete set from the 1940s, including the yearbooks, from my grandparents. I'm a bit of a book freak anyway but these are fabulous - they even smell great. It's surprising how little they're worth though. I saw a set from the early 1900s in Barter Books in Alnwick (famous for discovering the "Keep Calm" poster) for less than £200.

My grandparents had one volume, A-C, presumably they couldn't afford the rest just after the war.
I knew so much about Aeronautics, Architecture, Biology and Chemistry but sadly....

As a graduate, I applied for a job with them, as a technical writer. Apparently the company initials were held, internally, to stand for It'll Come Later.
