same goes for those remakes of classic 80s songs like tears for fears mad world sung very slow that went through a surge of popularity a while ago that seemed to be in every other advert .

Classical music with a drumbeat that was all the rage about 20 odd years ago.

Sorry, I know you might be trying to be a little bit more cultured or whatever, but no... Just, NO!

Many years ago I could get cheapish tickets to some concerts in the Philharmonic hall in Liverpool

The series of concerts always involved a few "experimental" pieces

Yea Gods some of them were terrible!

Discord can be done well
and not - some of them focussed very much on the not part of that statement

drum beats would have improved them - preferably if it was loud

Agree they always sounded utterly ghastly

Now that said, there are some quite sucessfull jazz versions of classical pieces, in particular Bach. This is not at all the same as adding a drum kit and lecci guitar to "improve" a symphony orchestra !

Reversing the posts previously, I'm against the orchestral performances of contemporary music.
'Classical Rave' Classical Northern Soul' 'Classical Britpop' - nah, not having it.

Same here - they are nearly always a pile of <checks CC-sanctioned lexicon> manure.
Orchestras should stick to music written for orchestras - it's what they're best suited to. It demeans them to play instrumental versions of the Rolling Stones.

Grumble grumble, this new Financial System is pants. We can grumble between us but the Managers call it a success. We are not allowed to criticise it !

Clearly, the managers are using different criteria to monitor the system than you are.

One might, possibly suspect that the concepts of "not getting looking bad" and "supporting the idea of the senior manager no matter what" might be one of the minor criteria

Most of these things are like Brexit
IT IS A WONDERFUL IDEA and if implemented and used properly it will have HUGE benefits for the country (or organisation)

and the most important thing is to be able to be distant from the people implementing and using it so that when it all becomes a total dogs dinner then you can point a finger and shout loudly about how it
WOULD have been wonderful if only THAT IDIOT hadn;t been in charge of it
and if only YOU were in charge.......

Some of it is nice, but yeah, it seems that they are doing some of it just for the sake of it.

Some of it is interesting to hear though and it shows the evolution of music.

That said, some does just sound crap (but so does anything).

Nope, I would have refused to get involved. Fortunately, my job in Finance, means I'm needed for other stuff.

Bridging the gap between bunging some (programmed) drums on a classical orchestra and doing a jazz arrangement of a classical piece, I give you from 1973: Deodato - Also sprach Zarathustra
