People will limit criticism of motorists to certain subsets, such as cabbies, private hires, WVM, Audis etc, tarring them with the same brush of bad driving behaviours but never generalise it to encompass all drivers.

Unfortunately we do get bad name because people who see poorly behaved cyclists can't identify them as a smaller subset, so tar us all with the same brush. I know that it is idiotic and shouldn't be the case but look at any news outlet's cycling story where public comments are allowed and you'll see it at work.

When you see someone driving badly, does that give all drivers a bad name?
Do bank robbers and rapists give skiers a bad name simply because they all wear balaclavas?

I've never seen anyone state that all drivers are idiots, nor even that all BMW drivers are.
I have seen people suggest that Audi drivers might be over-represented in the idiot contingent, but that's very different.

These are all obviously light heearted, and I'm sure thos on car forums 'light heartedly" refer to cyclists as redlight jumping anti social losers

In context, that was about a teenaged driver with a conviction for using a mobile while driving his £30k car who blasted his horn and close-passed a horse rider at speed. Maybe not a nazi, definitely a twit.

I was driving to work in my tin box and I nearly ran a cyclist over.

He opted to filter into oncoming traffic (on the wrong side of the road)

I nearly hit him as he just appeared at my end of my bonnet from nowhere. The traffic was stationary on the other side and he just emerged onto the wrong side of the road.

I made my feelings known about his blatant stupidity and all he did was make a face at me. I'm pretty sure he would have given me the finger had he not had handlebars to hold on to!

It's irresponsible people like this that give us all a bad name, sadly It kinda shook me up, could have killed the guy.
