Hoiw is that a problem?Ah yes, you see the problem.... lots of dry, hard, toasted crust and sealing strips.
The crunchy bits are good - gives a variety of texture

Cheese and ham
Cheese and chorizo
Cheese and kimchi
Cheese and turkey
Any of the above with chilli sauce and/or tomato
Just cook mine under the grill, buttered outside surfaces
I've just finished eating one.
Some of yesterday's roast beef cut into strips, onion, tomato, red pepper, steak seasoning - all into a pan on the hob for a couple of mins, then a bit of cheese on top and under the grill to melt. Put the lot between two slices of toast - lovely!
A sandwich made using toast, rather than a toasted sandwich?![]()
If you want to split hairs, then, yes . . .
When I remember to dust mine off its a fairly basic ham, cheddar cheese, tomato and onion.......BUT...... I make sure the tomato is shielded from the bread to stop it going soggy.
But it's not splitting hairs.
Toasted cheese sarnie is great
But uncooked cheese & toast sandwich is also great, but fundamentally different
