Where I come from, touchy feely is a cultural thing! You are expected to kiss (twice) people you are introduced to, friends you just met and friends' friends you never seen before. During a conversation it's very common to be touched on the hand or on the shoulder (either to ensure your attention or express friendliness). While standing and talking, it's very common for a man to touch a lady's back (protective) in order to guide or invite. These are gestures that indicate everything but sexual interest. Touching the leg, the face, the upper hand or instead of the lower back the hand wraps more and touch ribs, it's a completely different story. Equally for a woman to lean on a man's arm, or allow any part of her body to touch the other person (leg to leg, tips of foot/shoe to tip/shoe, rest on her back against any part of the other's body, etc) can be perceived in a more erotic way..

Having said that, I do not appreciate been touched by strangers or people I didn't give my permition to do so, however I'm very touchy feely with people I know and love (friends, family etc). Most animals are touchy feely as well, so I can't be too wrong! ;)

I am sort of likewise.
No permission, no touch and keep back.

Permission given (within friendships), not a problem so long as it is platonic and not sexual.
Animals are not humans and so permission is granted as a matter of course.

I also have an issue with faces, as I don't like making eye contact with humans or looking at their faces. Animals are not a problem in that way at all.

Blimey, complicated rules. It must be easy for someone who isn't familiar with that etiquette to make an unintentional faux pas?

I'm never sure about the just because animals do it it must be ok argument^_^

The one I don't get is touchy feely by text. I only put an "x" at the end of a text if I would actually kiss that person in real life.

Slightly different but I REALLY hate shaking hands expecting a nice tight grip and they shake your hand like a damp squid

Worse than that is a handshake that is designed to crush to powder all the bones in your hand. Especially from women.

Worst of all, men who do that to men, in a power trip, but not to women. I've been with a male colleague who commented on the bonecrushing handshake of a person we met, when I'd received a limp rag. Presumably the person felt they had to prove something to another man, but had to be nice and gentle with a feeble woman.

well go an get a hearing aid..;)

I can't, apparently my condition can't be fixed by a hearing aid as such, and besides, because I'm young, the doctors don't beleive me anyway, the bast*ards!

No, seriously!

So I will lean towards you and pretty much ***** what you think about it, really!!
