We tried that, the mudguard screws and the hitch need to be in the same place. You could take the mudguard screws out, then fit the trailer hitch, then re-fit the mudguards - using cable ties if necessary if you can't get the screws back in.
Post a picture Sara: had similar problem, solved it by changing the angle of the hitch slightly down, it all fitted then. What kind of hitch is it?There's been much fettling today, part of which was fitting the trailer hitch. It's supposed to connect behind the wheel nut but it wont fit because the screws from the mudguard connector are too close so prevent the wheel nut screwing back on.
Any suggestions?
This is the hitch:Post a picture Sara: had similar problem, solved it by changing the angle of the hitch slightly down, it all fitted then. What kind of hitch is it?
Hmmmm. The 2nd fitting in the picture is the pannier bolt. I don't think the mudguard and pannier would fit in the same hole.Sorry if you have thought of this already...
Fit the mudguard to the pannier bolt?
P clip and fit the mudguard to the leg of the carrier?
Is there room to fit the mudguard inside the frame?

I'm not sure about fitting the mudguard inside the frame, I'd presumed that its machined to only go on the outside. I'll think further about that.
A longer bolt with a washer between the rack leg and the mudguard, with another washer on the outside is a common fitting

The mud guard mount can go on from the other side. It's a wheel out job, but there's more then enough space on the non drive side.
