Fine as far as it goes, but that's nearly 5mm over 30 cm.

Wouldn't it be simpler just to use metric like the rest of the world?

Apart from USA, Liberia & Myanmar...
And..

Dogs, when out on a walk and need to 'unload' insist on several hobbles & half-steps to leave lumps in several places meaning I have to wander along behind with a poo-bag over my hand picking up the pieces 💩💩💩💩

Or into long grass which is a pain to pick up!

Or 1/2 a mile from the bin why not just next to the bin!!

My store manager who always calls everyone 'mate' even though we all wear badges with our names on :cursing:

Oh, and people who cannot look you in the eye when talking to you. Really pee's me off.

I used to work with a lady who had the disconcerting habit of looking at you and constantly flashing her eyes right to look at something over your shoulder. She would always look back immediately but as soon as, would again flick her eyes right. She couldn't help it it was just something she did. No one ever commented on it but it was unusual. She was the nicest, kindest person you could ever meet , her work was immaculate and she was held in very high regard by everyone.
I think it was just a quirk of her character. After a few weeks of working there I never really noticed it anymore.

She would never, ever, not in a million years call anyone 'mate' though. ^_^

No, it is not over 30cm at all. It IS 30cm exactly, which is the whole point of the phraseology.

Where is the fun in consistency

What always gets me is the way Tyre sizes are defined - 255,55,15 means 255mm wide, 55mm depth from the rim, and 15inch rims.

A freind of mine.. was working with kids in a school last week - today and a yr 3 kid came up to her and said to her I know who you are your Sarah... My friend was really taken by this... until her colleague pointed out Yeap we have name badges!🤣🤣

AFAIU The USA has gallons that don't contain enough pints, and miles that don't contain enough feet
The Irish Mile, also known as as the Country Mile, is longer than the English Mile.

Which is partially why the distance signs are also in Km. And why the speed limits are now in KPH, not MPH.
