Traffic lights are so annoying, they just slow the traffic and cause congestion. Only needed when you have two major roads intersecting. Jabbing then for hotels and gyms etc even a lane primarily used by horses is just ridiculous.

Many many years ago we went on holiday to Sweden

On our way to the return ferry my Dad was confused by signs at the side of the road with numbers on them that were constantly changing

On the boat we found out that they indicated the speed you would need to go at to get through the next set of lights on green
This was in the early to mid 1970s

seems to me that this would be a wonderful thing to have and would mean that major routes through cities and large towns would have traffic routes that could be running constantly rather than stop start

If only computers were as powerful today as they are now!!!!

So to be clear, you noticed a full bin twice in three days, and did nothing to have the situation corrected (call Clitheroe Council on 01200 425111 for refuse issues,) but complained on a forum that has no connection to that Council about litter around said bin?

This is why we can’t have nice things.

This. It's easy to report and contact a local council about a problem, and they're generally quick to respond especially when it's somewhere like that.

It only gets actioned if people actually point things out.

I know what you mean. It took me 50 minutes to get home today, just sheer volume of traffic. But the relentless stop/start through traffic lights made me wonder. If everyone drove at 20mph, would we even need them? I idled along at 15-20 and that left enough time for a fair few people to pull out of junctions in front of me. Same goes for roundabouts. Maybe it's something they should trial
