Because we instinctively know which one!
It would be annoying as northern folk who say our Jane, our Nigel etc...
Who is " we " ?

Always the same, you have a problem and there's no phone number. You go around in circles trying to find "contact us" and are always directed to frequently asked questions which are irrelevant. Finally get a number and it's option 1, option 4, option 2, put on hold, wait 20 mins, automated message saying please try again when less busy
Who is " we " ?
I guess the secret is having the receiver close to the end of your arm ...but they did it - all phone calls were answered in that time
which is still possible
Having just got back from hols...
I'd like to submit made up safety warnings.
1) Please set your devices to airplane mode
Really? It's dangerous yet you haven't made time to check the tablets, phones, smart watches, laptops etc of all 300 passengers on the plane...
2) You must not use your mobile phone at the petrol pump
Something so dangerous that there is no recorded history of anything happening ever.
Not only that but at the Shell garage near my in-laws, they have put the 350v EV charger next to those big connectors for refilling the petrol station tanks. Sign on the big connectors is "DO NOT USE YOUR MOBILE PHONE IN THIS AREA". Sign on the EV Charging station is "For Technical Support please call xxx-xxxx-xxxx. You will need to identify the charger by the serial number located on the side of the charger." . Anyone else good at memorising 10 to 4 digit serial numbers?
The English... Like saying York or Boston we know it's the UK one rather than New York or Boston MA...
I dont have a problem with English media not using the word English in relation to the various sports events or organisations.
But its used by UK wide outlets, a lot.
Here in Denmark, if anyone says "Premier League" everyone knows that its English. Whatever you think of how it's run or what it's done to football it's a massively successful worldwide brand with global recognition.
Here in Scotland, " the premier league " is our league, not the English version
