By swapping the crossones to the crossrides, removing tubes and rim strips I have saved nearly 650grms in the wheel-set-up........you can pay a shed load of money to save that sort of weight

I run 3 sets of tubeless 1 mtb 1 CX and 1 road/CX, the CX tyres are not tubeless ready but perform well at 45 psi on Stans Grail Rims, they are very comfortable (Victoria XN pro cx) the MTB wheels Racing Ralphs on Stans Rims, the road/CX are Specialised Roubaix Pro on Pacenti Rims.

I’ve ran stans for 3 years and never had a puncture. I did have a few burps when riding rocks though.

Will be cycle tracks and canals for me on the commute, not an mtb'er which is why I run a full rigid 27.5

I bought a set of Hunt wheels recently. I really like them. Its my first tubeless set of wheels. Within the first week I got my first puncture, but the sealant did the trick and the tyre only lost a little pressure and so I stopped and pumped it up. The other day I noticed the front was losing pressure and so I pumped it up to the recommended pressure with my track pump. Then it really let loose and at the same time the rear tyre decided to go a well.

On the other hand. Jannie does not have tubeless ready rims and so we have gone ghetto tubeless with hers using continental tubes. The front tyre started leaking miles from home. We gave it a few spins and it sealed. It has not been a problem since.

I am now going ghetto tubeless on mine. I doubt if I will notice the difference.

I see that Hutchinson are offering a starter kit of two tyres and all the stuff for £99 and I'm definitely interested but I think I'll wait until we have moved to Scotland, I have a decent workshop and reliability during long remote rides becomes a little more important.

Me no understand.

Tubeless, ghetto or otherwise, does not involve 'using Continental tubes'.

Ghetto tubeless is usually taken to mean a tubeless set-up with non specific wheels and tyres.

Unless you mean using an old inner tube to seal the rim bed, although most ghetto set-ups use Gorilla tape.

Ghetto tubeless refers to using an inner tube and cutting the excess of when fitted to standard rims, Gorrilla tape is used instead of branded rim tape usually in tubeless ready rims, is my understanding.

I used Gorrilla tape to set my up a couple of months ago and it's all good. Much cheaper than Stans rim tape and it didn't stick when I brought mine, hence I used Gorrilla tape.
