Twin lights

After my commute home last night, I decided I need brighter front lights. So I am looking into getting twin headlights (Rechargable) the ones with 5 watt and 10 watt beam, any suggestions

At the budget end, I've got two types, both with Lead Acid batteries.
Smart Owl, IIRC its 10W / 2.4W and LED.
10watts ok for dark lane riding, the LED's good for urban / lit road situations, and the 2.4W somewhere inbetween.
Burn times quoted (something like 2 hours for the 10W, hours and hours for the LED) are about right...although this tails off as the battery gets a bit older.

Also have a Cateye RC230 twin lamp set, 10W spot and 10W flood. Again, ok for what it cost.

The Smart Owl's more of a MTB, commuter light i assume. Doesnt look impressive on a road bike.

lead acid batteries are ok, but require some care and regular charging, even over the summer. The technologies not very high, but with care, they do the job...the rules are dont overcaharge them, it slowy kills them...and dont let them completey discharge, it can kill them quite quickly. I use a mutimeter to check the battery voltage during charging...just to ensure i dont overcharge. Mine are 2 years old, used almost daily in the winter, and still going well.

Hope that helps a little

why not just buy 2 of the tesco 3w cree torches and some rechargable batteries, probably more light, run time will be ok as well, unless long run time is a major factor.

I have the Smarts in the top link. Work a treat on my commute which includes unlit country roads. Only about a 2.5 hr run time on just the 10w spot though which is the one I predominantly use.

lights for commute

I recently switched jobs & am now able to ride to work everyday. I am loving it. I don't have a long ride. I probably avg 30 miles a week. Just got my winter commuter up & running (u can check out my album to see it). I need to invest in a simple light setup for the winter, but don't want to spend a lot & don't want something big & bulky.
