That sounds like fun, and a little cheeky too ;) Open your profile up so we can see what you've been up to
No chance, I like my privacy. And I'm not the one complaining about too many car related threads.

At the risk of going off topic - I can't find how to find how many threads I've started.
Go to the user's profile page (your own, to find out about your own threads) assuming it isn't locked down, click on information and you will have links for 'find all content by...' and 'find all threads by'.

Which funnily I just tried for various posters in this thread, and the lowest number of threads started I could find was actually six.
I just carried out a very unscientific bit of research. Someone on this very thread complaining about the number of car threads in the cafe. So a quick look at the members profile reveals that he/she has been a member for over 10 years - and has started how many threads in that time? The answer is........ Three. Three threads in 10 years and complains about the subject matter in the cafe.

Just finished doing the same myself, with the same result. Considering the number of posts made it's actually a rather high ratio.
I used to go on a truck driving forum and I remember someone complaining about too many threads about cycling, and stating there was more cycling crap on the truckers forum than on the cycling forums where they don't often discuss cycling.
Don't blame me for those. I went on because of a project on here in 2010.

The model American male devotes more than 1,600 hours a year to his car. He sits in it while it goes and while it stands idling. He parks it and searches for it. He earns the money to put down on it and to meet the monthly installments. He works to pay for gasoline, tolls, insurance, taxes, and tickets. He spends four of his sixteen waking hours on the road or gathering his resources for it. And this figure does not take into account the time consumed by other activities dictated by transport: time spent in hospitals, traffic courts, and garages; time spent watching automobile commercials or attending consumer education meetings to improve the quality of the next buy. The model American puts in 1,600 hours to get 7,500 miles: less than five miles per hour.

Cars are for losers.
rather worryingly I have just added up
150 miles per week = 15 hours
driving to and from start = 2 hours
Cycle Chat 35 posts per week = 3 hours
maintenance = 2 hours
looking at maps planning where to ride = 2 hours

total = 24 hours a week (1248 hours per year) devoted to a dam bike

that is 21% of my waken hours - this is distubing - i need to get a life
Got a life cycle?

I’m going to use this thread as an excuse to post a gratuitous photo of my own 800cc motorbike...

To avoid taking a thread elsewhere off topic, I thought it might be "interesting" to have people's views on this Animal Farm-esque point of view, and it's place on a cycling forum.

I am a self confessed tart when it comes to anything with wheels. I ride bikes and own 5 of them, but I also drive (and generally enjoy driving) a car; an uneconomic 800cc motorbike; and have in the past driven lorries of all sizes up to 44 tonnes.

I love cycling but it has it's place in my life. I'll never have a cycle obsession, and it will never take the place of my car or even motorbike. But should my love of other wheeled machines preclude me from taking part in discussions on a cycling forum? Especially when I tend to keep to the cafe/general cycling and leave the more enthusiast/specialist sections alone. Clearly I don't think so or I wouldn't have been here 7 years and an unhealthy number of posts!

So there you have it. I am a cyclist who realises their limitations and likes driving too. Am I really a bad person?. Oh, and ho ho; yet another car related thread on a cycling forum, whatever next?

Yes. Get out.

I can beat that I think ..... 12 year old Toyota Corolla with 108k miles on the clock . Hardly the stuff of a car devotee, but it does it's job well and frees up money for stuff like - bikes.
Braggart with your latest model low mileage nonsense! Our two cars have a combined age of 27 and a mileage of over 300k. The younger is over 13 and just passed 140k!

And we have no need or desire to change either
