Are they any good?
I'm worried about ruining my bike by hanging it up by the front wheel. Does it damage the bike or wheel in any way ?

Think about it - why would it?

Spokes work in tension when you are on the bike. They are easily strong enough to support the weight of a suspended bike. Lidl do some big screw hooks for this. They cost very little. Screw then into a ceiling joist ( having previously located the plaster fixings with a magnet or stud locator), and be careful that you don't hit a pipe or cable. You'll know about it if you do.

I've got 5 of those along one wall in my garage. No issues at all. If you're hanging them indoors though, make sure you attach them securely, especially if your wall is plasterboard. Lifting the bikes on and off can cause some "leverage" and if they're not securely screwed to the wall they can pull out.

As a bike is built to carry a rider up to 100 kilos you needn't worry about the 10 kg weight of the bike pulling itself apart.

When you do hang your bike vertically, make sure it's only ever hung up by the front wheel. To hang it up by the back wheel is totally uncool and all the other bikes will laugh at it with it's arse pointing in the air like you just don't care

(and it's fekking difficult!)

Which is why Virgin and ScotRail insist on it
