I have bought motorbikes from abroad and I also believe that this is dodgy BUT.........
When I buy motorbikes I get a home landline number and a work landline number. I do not deal on mobile phones.
Landline numbers are traceable and it is more secure if you can ring a receptionist at their work and ask to speak to them. If they cannot supply at least one landline number I don`t deal with them.
Never send money without seeing what you are buying.....Never send money without seeing what you are buying. I had to say it twice because I have read where people do send money.`Unless you are 100% sure about who you are dealing with DO NOT turn up somewhere with a huge wad of bank notes. Unless you want rolling of course.
Ask loads of questions on the phone and you get a feel if they are "Right" or not.
I have bought 4 motorbikes this way and it has always worked out well.

I wouldn`t avoid it until I have asked the questions.
I have in the past have had some really good wind ups. I did once suggest my police officer brother go and look at a bike for me. They stopped talking to me.
You never know this may be the bargain of a life time....but I doubt it.

I don't think that it is stolen; I think that it simply doesn't exist as far as the 'seller' is concerned. They have probably copied the blurb from a real advert along with the pics, and put an ad on craigslist at a silly price. They hope someone is daft enough to pay without seeing the bike, and then of course the bike will never materialise.
Ask yourself why they didn't put it on ebay and get a realistic price, if they are willing to deal via ebay?
