Just a 'heads up' for anyone on Virgin media.
They have what they call a national outage with thousands of customers losing sound, picture or both.
I have lost radio sound but still have TV sound. My daughter has lost both TV and radio.
Virgin cant give any estimate for when it will be fixed as they have no idea of the cause.
This is the 3rd time in recent months and is a real pain as I use it for radio.

I had to switch the box off and on to get it mostly working. I say mostly working because I can get all the apps, all my recordings, and every tv channel except BBC1. Currently using it without problem to watch the Giro on HBO Max, will try BBC1 again once Pointless comes on.

No problem with Virgin media here today, but I've more frequent outages with them than anyone else.

I like the speed, but their infrastructure /technology doesn't seem nearly as reliable/resilient as Openreach's old copper pairs. We've had numerous short outages, and about four significant ones in about 20 months.

At some point I'll try Openreach full fibre.

Working fine here, but I only have the broadband service, no TV box.
@Dave7 you obviously have internet because you're posting, can't you listen to the radio via Alexa, or your phone or tablet?

By pure coincidence I have just seen an email to me from Virgin Media setting out my usage stats over the past three months.
My average download speed : 271.35 Mbps
My average upload speed : 26.12 Mbps
And my connection’s uptime (strange word) over the last three months, that’s a stable 99.985%

I consider that to be satisfactory.

I have several suppliers to choose from in my area but I stick with VM because I have one of their TV boxes which I use quite a bit. If I went to another internet service provider I would miss Virgin’s TV box as my TV is not a “smart“ TV.

Yes, I have a radio and I have Alexa plus MY TV was working. My post was really to let other Virgin users know what the problem was eg my daughter lost both radio and TV.

Ours became unusable about lunchtime

Internet was fine so we used that

came back about tea time but some bits are still dodgy

just had a thing on it where we can;t change channel - current one is fine but can;t change it
and we can't delete recordings

Just trying switching the box off and on
(I didn't work in hardcore IT for 20 years for nothing!!!)

Out of the 12 providers that Which review, Virgin Media is the second worst. They score 3/5 for speed, and 2/5 for everything else, including reliability. (Zen's the best, and Plusnet the best of the 'big' providers.)

The attraction is that I can get all our TV and wifi and everything - all in one places

speed is never a problem - we use only a fraction of what we are supposef to get - in fact this problem has reminded me that I need to check on it because it seemed very low
and we had not noticed!!

but I will check over the nexy week or so and complain if it is very low

IF I can find out how to complain
because last time I tried it was almost impossible - I could find "help pages" - but beyond that I could find very little

but I shall have a go

BTW a bloke who fixed a problem we had a few years ago said he would change our connection in "the box"
he said the ports at the top were always faster than the ones at the bottom
so when someone complain and the "blokes in hi-vis" go out to check - they often just put the complained on the top row and move other people down a bit

bit like evolution - the people who complain end up with the better internet
and the ones that don't slowly migrate downwards

or so he said - take it with a piece of salt (or a bucket load!)
