@Glasgow44 don't over complicate this very simple procedure. I get the feeling you could be heading that way. The major benefit of Wahoo is its simplicity.
- Choose your preferred route planner(s) and create accounts with them.
- On your phone install the Wahoo Elemnt app
- In the Wahoo Elemnt app go to "Profile" >"Autorised Apps" >select the app you wish to authorise > follow the instructions
Once #2 is completed
- Any route you create will automatically show under "Routes" in the Wahoo Elemnt app
- Any route you create will appear on the Wahoo Bolt but you need to sync the Bolt after creating a new route
To load and use a route you have three choices:
- In the Elemnt app go to "Routes" scroll through and choose the route you want to use. On the top bar there is a search facility which can be very useful. Select the route and it will load on to the Bolt in seconds
- On the Bolt go to "Routes" and use the buttons to scroll up and down to choose the route. I find this a bit fiddly
- If you have a GPX file, a Route, which has been sent to you and you have not added to your route planner do this.
- In the Elemnt app go to "Routes"
- In the bottom right corner click the blue +
- Choose "Import from file"
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
That is all you need to do and in my view is by far the simplest approach. There are other approaches, many of them hangovers from the days when getting routes on to a Garmin was arduous. I regularly hear people chat about how they do abc, xyz and wonder to myself why make it so complicated.
One thing you can do which may be of value is create "Starred" Routes. These will appear first on your Bolt. To do this in your chosen planner create what are essentially "Favourites" by whatever means the planner uses. The favourite will, after syncing, show as a starred route on the Bolt.
