The Elite Fly MTB ones have a cover, separate from the drinking nozzle which looks big enough to keep dirt well away from the nozzle.

Those are the ones I am using at the moment, last well and easy to wash with no complex mechanism in the spout. I really can't see a reason for bottles not to have caps other than style over substance.

Fits in a bottle cage, keeps drinkies hot or cold, very robust (this one is twenty odd years old and looks like new), and will make you look tough.

Wasn’t there study about aluminium pans possibly causing dementia. Aluminium bottles might not be too clever unless their anodised.

Yes, I would have thought so.

Aluminium toxicity is a thing, but the amount of aluminium you would consume from a drinking bottle would not be of concern.

Some aluminium compounds are used in the process of cleaning drinking water, and that needs to be carefully monitored, to avoid dangerous levels going into the supply.

There was an accidental overdose of aluminium sulphate in treatment works in Camelford in 1998, which caused several documented cases of dementia due to aluminium toxicity, but the level reached was 3000 times the safe level for aluminium in drinking water.

You could buy any bottle with lid that fits your cage, even the ones sold in grocery shops.
The do burst eventually, but can be refilled many times before breaking, I did this once, don't remember why.
I can tell you that having the lid won't work: the dirt goes allover the bottle and lid, you handle the bottle to open the lid, some of the dirt on the bottle, especially from the neck area, will get into your mouth
Maybe carry some antibacterial wipes?

That's why I don't waste time with bottle cages. My bottle goes in whatever bag I've got on the rack.

Used to use elite fly ones for mtb and gravel biking but the lids eventually split, currently use camelback insulated ones with the rubber cover. Learnt along time ago that the bigger bottles don't stay secure in normal holders when it gets a bit rowdy.
