Waterproof hat

In my collection of about 30 different hats I have a waxed cotton Barbour hat, it's a snug fit on my head so can't get blown off and it forms a good "gutter" so that rain doesn't wet my face and neck or dribble down my back. It also squashes flat, which is really handy. It's something like this but with a wider brim and without the seam around the top:

I'd need to build up to full cycling-God status to carry off that look. Danger of writing cheques I might not be able to honour..

The caps with the mosquito netting are probably the best bet at this time of year, looking at the bites on my arms and legs.

My experience of many waterproof or winter cycling caps I have tried is they tend to be a bit sweaty unless really flippin cold. Caps don't stop water going down tbe back of your neck when it's pissing down either.

I don't wear a helmet but find a helmet cover, worn over my cycling cap, and non-waterproof hearing aids, very useful in the rain.
