I think can see or understand the benefits of hot waxing. It’s the disadvantages that concern me. I watched numerous YouTube videos including GCN tech & The Cycle Workshop.

...

The thing with YT videos is they're not to inform or educate but to generate ad revenue for the channel (yes, I'm a cynic). They make a video about hot wax because another channel made a video about hot wax. They all copy each other and i take them with a pinch of salt. At the end of the day it's better to lube then not lube. There is no single method to blow all the others out of the water.

What if you want to wax the whole chain and not merely the tips?

What do you do ?
Hot wax all year. If the ride has been a bit wet then I will at least wipe the chain thoroughly with a microfibre cloth and a fair bit of isopropyl alcohol to remove the water. If it's been properly wet then I re-wax it, which takes under five minutes 'effort' over a couple of hours (for the wax pot to melt). I ride all winter and several times a week and I've not had an issue with chains rusting.
