The AlcoSense ones work and are quite accurate. We've got one at home and it's been compared with Mr R's one at work, which is one that can be used for evidential purposes.
I was breathalysed 4 years ago, after someone ran into the back of me. The copper just happened to witness the bump and said he'd breathalyse both drivers, just as a precaution. I was slightly worried in case i came up with a positive reading. I'd had 3 pints of beer the night before which should be ok,but you never know.Interesting. I don't drive and not sure I can justify the cost for a whimsy, but alway been tempted to buy one just to see how quickly the alcohol level drops off the morning after a heavy one. The NHS always quotes 1 unit an hour, but that seems way too slow for common sense - assume they have to err on the side of caution. It would also give some indication if you're liable to smell like a brewery at work the day after...
Three times over the limit at 11am is some effort if you haven't had a drink - as claimed by Ms Gallagher - since the early hours.
A couple of other tales about her indicate a problematic relationship with the booze.
She appeared suitably upset outside the court, clearly she's not an idiot in other respects, so hopefully it was the reality check she needed.
Similar reading to Rooney by all accounts, and the sentence was bang on the guidelines, medium level community order and a ban of around two years.
Rooney can expect much the same.

When I was arrested for DD in 95 I'd been drinking beer all day Saturday and then a pub follow on party until 5am .
Where I had loads more cans .
Sunday lunch I had 7 pints of 3.8% John Smith's.. Left the pub at 3 and had a large Sunday lunch.
I crashed my car around 4.15 pm.
Now I was a serious drinker and my system had lots of other things in it.
Amphetamine an E and some Charlie.
I also had a 1/2 ounce a week cannabis habbit..i know.
Now my brush with the law helped set me straight Literally..but after All that alcohol, and a gram of amphetamines. They make you almost imune to being drunk in the fall over sense..i was only 83 on the tox meter..
So really just about 2 and a bit times.
The copper said I only breathed you as I have to..so there ya go ..i never believe the I only had one glass officer crap.
The last time I was breathalysed was about the same time as you - mid 90s.
I'd had three pints of weak beer and was stopped within a 100 metres of the pub.
It was in the days of the crystal machines, and the officer took a long time examining the breathalyser under the beam of his headlights.
A fail was declared, so that was me arrested and off to the police station.
Happily I blew under, quite a bit under, because the officer said there was no point in doing the second test.
I managed to persuade them to give me a lift back to my car, so I arrived at the police station in the back of a van which stank of disinfectant and vomit, and left in the front seat.
That scrape was a lesson to me, which I was fortunate to be able to learn with no real harm done.
..we kid ourselves that we're ok.

Fingers crossed that the judge doesn't buy it, he is rich enough that he can afford to pay someone to drive him.Mr Loophole will have been hired to try and ensure he doesn't get a ban. Cue lots of stories about how being able to drive is essential to his work and his charitable activities...
