Sorry badly worded, I was thinking for the paste for the mum, I knew what I meant but that's not what I typed.

Sorry 😊, you can use the paste on the mum but it doesn’t treat tapeworms which is what she’s most likely to have.

There’s 2 different species of tapeworms found in cats, Taenia and Dipylidium , Panacur will only treat Taenia. You can still use the paste once the kittens are over 1kg, they will need worming again before they go to their new homes. Kittens don’t need treating for tapeworms so it’s fine for them.

We know she has worms as we can see them, we were worried she could pass them through the milk. As she's feral it's a bit difficult to get her to the vert although she will have to go in a few weeks to be spayed.

They can pass roundworms through the milk so it’s a good idea to use the panacur for the kittens. If you already have pets registered with a vets they may dispense a wormer for the mother without seeing her if you explain that she’s feral.

First attempt at lapping from a dish, 3 git it straight away, the other 2 had to be coaxed, granddaughter (6) was in charge, bit of milk on her finger to let them lick it, then finger in milk & front of mouth, then pull finger away slowly.

Mum made sure nothing was wasted, they must be quite demanding on her, 3 sachets already today from 8am along with dried feed left down all the time.

Is it cat milk or normal milk? A lot of cats get upset tummies with cows milk.

For those with experience of this process as we've never done it with kittens, we did it with puppies but that must have been 30+ years ago & we had a friend who bred dogs to guide us.

So questions are how often do we need to give the milk, when do we introduce some meat into the milk, or is there a biscuit/meal stage to go through first? We've done lots to searching but there seems to be so many different answers out there.

Ye gods, they're cute!!!

Keep an eye out to see if they're interested in mum's food. Pate-style kitten food is a good start, but mash it up with a little water so it's really sloppy. If they're lapping OK at milk, then they might have a go at something a bit more substantial.

Just a word of warning - this *does* get messy. Kittens are expurrts in wearing their food and paddling through the dish.
