Sounds like I'm about average, I'd say I spend about 150 a week (two trips of 70-80 each). That's spread between three people, so about 50 pounds per person, give or take. Occasionally (maybe once every two weeks) I might get a takeaway meal for everyone, that can be about 35 pounds so that would bump up the food spend that week.
I'm spending more at the moment with the kids being at home, school meals cost a couple of quid a day but it costs considerably more to feed them at home. I gather there might be a thread running on that somewhere.

Somewhere between £100 - £130 for four adults.

About 100 euros for the two of us. Once in a while, we'll go to the cash and carry and buy stuff that's on offer. The bill for that can be quite hefty: 500+ today, but we've got enough wild salmon, scallops, meat, gin and beer to see us to spring, well at least the fish and meat should, not too sure about the booze.

We have an arrangement that Mevrouw TCC buys the food and I pay all the bills. However, she can skimp a bit sometimes and I usually end up buying food during the week.

I go to the supermarket on a Saturday morning as Mrs Z likes their fresh croissants. I spend about £50 to £60 for the 2 of us. I'll probably spend another £15 in the week.

I reckon we are around £80 a week for two adults and two children under 8. Neither of us drink so that might reduce the bill.

About £70 a week for myself. Problem is I’ve a restricted diet and the moment you start removing ingredients from products the cost goes up.

2 adults, a teen and a 9 year old. Aldi for the majority of it.

She's a great cook, I'm useless..

There is four of us and we spend between £200 and £250 a week. Mixture of Waitrose and Aldi.

Is the higher end spend because people buy more expensive prepared products rather than cooking every day using raw ingredients?

I shop fortnightly (Tesco plus some local roadside stuff), and typically, that's around £70 for two people.

So that works out £17.50 per person per week.

BUT...

I get the majority of my meat and fish on yellow sticker, along with a good deal of my fruit and veg, rarely buy pre-prepared stuff (I adore cooking, it's one of life's pleasures), and both mum and I are teetotal. And we live too far out in the boonies to bother with take-aways.

Our non-YS fruit and veg tends to be the value / wonky stuff. Let's face it, if all you're going to do is chop it up and chuck it into a soup, casserole or curry, or into a crumble, it doesn't really matter what it looked like to start with. Dry goods and cupboard staples get bought in large packs, plus I'll take advantage of clearance / damaged goods offers on things I know I will use. I will also buy veg and potatoes from local farmers and market gardeners, plus I'm not above lobbing escaped potatoes and onions into my pannier when I'm out on the bike. Oh, and I go foraging for fruit and nuts in the autumn.

Plus I make all my own preserves - jams, chutneys, pickles, marmalades... (I am a champion chutney maker btw)

We don't waste food here either.

Despite the low spend, I don't skimp. I am very much an epicure. :hungry:

Bit of that, plus we’re alcoholics
Wasn't thinking of that Gunk! £200 a week between 4 isn't that much when children like snacks and 'stuff'! Anything approaching £100 each would be a lot- presumably buying specialised and expensive ingredients- but that isn't a criticism of anyone who can afford such lovely things- a good steak or seafood would be really tasty! I'm digging a hole so I'll shut up!
