It's good for British motorsports - and I was pleased Ross Brawn's gamble paid off. It took a lot of balls to put his own money into the defunct Honda Racing Team. To take on the financial might of Ferrari, BMW, McLaren, Toyota etc, was a brave move.

Well done Jenson and Brawn GP - deserved World Champions! :smile:

...and well done Red Bull for making a fight of it!

Yes. The important thing is that we fans have had some great racing to watch this year.

Has that happened before where an F1 champion has handed over the title to a fellow countryman?

It's happened quite a few times, especially in the 60's when there were a few excellent British drivers (Hill, Clarke, Surtees, Stewart) that swapped the title each year :biggrin:

I thought they said on the Tv it was the first time an englishman had handed it to a an englishman!

Besides, Jackie Stewart is a sweaty sock scot

I live half a mile from where John & Jenson lived, he has won just about every championship he has entered in karts and single seaters. Truly proud of him being British. I must say there are some unpatriotic people on here.

Well you know what they say about patriots...

Personally, I am proud of him, and Lewis Hamilton, it seems that Britain is doing well in Formula 1.

What I find the most surprising is how much I like the Brawn team colours, it is very close to being hyper-Chav chic, yet they have managed to strike the balance perfectly.

Have you been watching a different series or something? Some of the races have been really good this year.

The ones I've seen have been boring as usual. F1 is very dull to watch these days.

Just to put the facts straight for all you guys;

to start with honda got it all wrong in their final seasons in f1 the engine simply wasn t powerfull enough, the car became un manageable as they tried to make up for the engines lack of power the difference this season was not their intrepretation of the rules it was the mercedes engine.

secondly red bull unlike most teams have a bottomless pit of money to throw at the sport as do ferrari and also toyota untill recently.thats where the success comes from mclaren also fall into this group the remarkable thing about button and brauns win this season is they didnt have apot to p*** in.Money talks in F1.

Thirdly if you put the top dozen drivers in the same car on a quali lap they would all be within a few hundedths of each other. vettel is certainly quick trouble is he cant stop falling off the island Button on the otherhand is kind to the car ala prost thats why he won the championship and deservedly so.

How do i know all this simple. My brother ran the special ops dept at honda, he now runs the test team at red bull.

Hang on, I'm confused. We're five pages into this thread. Where are all the po-faced greenies to tell us that F1 is eco-terrorism at its worst, destroying the planet for the idle entertainment of the masses?
