Philishave 3-blade electric for me once a day, does the job very well in about 60-90 seconds, although other electric brands don't work as well. Think it depends on the shape of your mug. Haven't used a proper razor since backpacking in Peru in 2002.

Dry, then wet! I let the stubble build up for a few days until it starts to get a bit OTT (this morning for example) then it has to go. If I try getting rid of that much hair with a wet shave it takes forever and I end up cutting myself so I prune it right back with an electric razor then finish it off with a quick wet shave.

I did it the other way around. Doesn't the 'leccy shaver get stuck in your stubble like Maz (Sorry Maz I laughed at that image you painted)

It can do if it is running on battery power and is not fully charged! In that situation I plug the mains cable in before starting.

If the whiskers have been left too long, I use the beard trimmer thingy on the back of the razor to hack the stubble back a bit before doing the main shave.

If I've not shaved for a few days I just wet shave twice. The first shave only using the razor in a downward direction. Then rinse more gel then shave only upwards. Seems to work for me.

My problem with electric is it takes about three times longer to do an inferior job.

And to answer the question, it's got to be a wet shave after a shower every morning.

Best shaves I ever had was at a traditional Italian barbers in Newcastle, the other was immediately after a sauna, it makes the beard extend out apparently so you can shave, then it shrinks back leaving a very close shave.

You get the same effect shaving immediately after a bath. For me it's an old fashioned safety razor, with one of my stash of old stock (not stainless) blades.

Wet shave before work, with an old safety razor (loose double edge blades) and soap & water. A blade lasts 4-6 weeks.

I don't like these modern multi-edge blades - they clog up far too easily. I expect a shave after a week's holiday to be just as easy as the regular daily.

I wet shave on a sunday night. and then I grow progressively more hairy throughout the week.

I absolutely hate shaving! it's 'orrible! the only reason I do it at all is because i work for a bank.

Not true, or at least a much lesser effect. I bath every morning prior to shaving and it is no way near a post sauna shave.
