What are your worst tv ads?

Shackleton's high seat chairs, they're lovely .

to be fair, I actually have shifted positions on this ad (bad pun intended). Originally reviled by me, I now realized this ad has given me years of joy by poking fun at it. Imagine my sheer joy when I found it on YouTube (this was the entire justification and rationale for the internet for me!). also will put the "oooh, where's me purse?" Public service ad in this category as well.

Regarding the TV adds they were supposed to sort this out years ago..

It's over-compression that makes them sound louder, but when you're watching a film with a wide dynamic range you have to turn the volume up to here the dialogue and the you get the full onslaught when the bloody adds start..

The channel should alter the audio on the adverts to match the main programme (surely this wouldn't be too difficult to do automatically?) but cat in hells chance of that happening..

We used to call people "Shirty Shackleton" when they got arsey, 20+ years ago. The add deserves our full admiration and respect .

I also hate the Halifax adverts.

Not just because they're spectacularly bad, in terms of acting and content. No, I hate them because the Halifax only exists due to untold millions of our money being poured in to its coffers to keep the damn thing going, yet someone has signed off goodness knows how much more of our money to Hanna Barbera (or whichever multi-national conglomerate owns them now) to licence a load of pointless adverts, with badly impersonated voices of the original characters.

And the Top Cat one is the worst of the lot - here is a once fine British institution, that used to be a by-word for prudence and financial responsibility but brought to its knees due to a load of sub-prime mortgage debt, lending money to a cat with no visible means of income and a long history of trouble with the police, to buy a luxury dustbin!!!!! Oh, the irony!
