Yep start a thread 'Tell us what lube you put on your helmet'

Well that is an example where WD40 is well and truly out of the equation!!

My uncle was a motor mechanic and his youngest son became one as well

when they changed oil in a car at home they used a low bowl and generally only emptied it when they needed it again

and if a bike chain need lubricating they just cleaned it and let it soak in there for a few hours then let it drop off
My Dad had a similar bowl for the same thing and I used that a few times as well

that bike still had its original chain when it got knicked when I was in my late 20s (still annoys me that - bar steward!!)

Yet riding a bicycle on a road, as opposed to waving parts of a bicycle round on a drill, I've never suffered the slightest issue with lube flinging everywhere.

One wonders how much folk are slathering on their machines if fling or mess is an issue.

I generally put a drop on the first link and then wind the chain slowly past the bottle and it slowly drips out

then wind it through in high gear
even then I get very little flying off
so if people are having problems with it going all over the place, then I also worry about how much they use!

if I was being cynical, I might wonder if some lube companies have "advise" out there showing people using loads of lube
but I'm not like that, so I won't mention it
