Don't be ashamed. I was embarrassed to admit I used the pedestrian route around a ford on an audax, until I found several riders slipped and got a soaking. Then I felt very wise.

I'd have have leaped it using my champion BMX technique, which isn't easy while rolling a fag with the young lass on pillion warming her hands down my Y fronts, but I'd just manage it.
