Another point, for all those that think that fish and chips is some kind of folksy food nirvana, let me prick that bubble. Unless you live by the coast and you can ascertain that the chippy buys his fish every day fresh from the harbour, you can be pretty sure it's frozen or come via some industrialised distribution chain. Fresh fish is something of a misnomer unless you've taken it from the fisherman whilst it's twitching. Secondly, most of the UK's F+C batter is not made from some secret family recipe it's blended in 2 big factories in the UK and sold under a variety of brands .... as does the Curry Sauce. The Tartare Sauce, Ketchup, salt, Pepper and Vinegar are all industrial products.
