The Upside - turns out this was a remake of a French original, to which The Guardian's critic compares it unfavourably, giving it 1/5 and describing it as 'horrific'. A tad strong, I feel - we enjoyed it thoroughly. Simple tale, based on a true story, about the developing relationship between a quadriplegic and the carer he hires from the projects, who livens up his life, not least by flouting the 'normal' behaviours of the uber-wealthy society in which he finds himself. No masterpiece, and yes, perhaps on the sentimental side, but a perfectly pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. 7.5/10 from me.

Watched Star Wars - Rise of Skywalker the other day. Entertaining enough, but essentially just a Disneyfied rehash of what has gone before. 7/10

I've also just watched The Thomas Crown Affair on BBC2, the original Steve McQueen / Faye Dunaway one. Have to say I'm slightly disappointed with it and prefer the Pierce Brosnan / Rene Russo remake, although that opinion may well see me drummed out of this thread. ^_^
It's watchable, so I'll give it 5/10.

Carry on at your Convenience - simply the finest British film it's era. 10/10
Carry On Matron - what the silver screen was invented for - 9/10.

I watched that on Amazon Prime about a month ago and really enjoyed it too.

Isn't every sequel just a rehash of what's gone before?

You're absolutely right about The Thomas Crown Affair... it's one of a handful of remakes that is actually a better film than the original.

Can't stand Carry On films, sorry... I felt forced to watch them all when i was probably a bit too young for them all. But there was bugger all else on.

I've just looked and the "new" Thomas Crown Affair was released in 1999 - over 20 years ago!

I watched The Sound of Music for the first time ever today, probably the last time as well.

John Wick 3 - this must surely be the last in the series, there can't be anymore assassins left to chase him round New York.

Re: carry on films, some are indeed woeful (even back then) but I do think Up the Kyhber and Carry on Cleo and maybe on or two others are still very funny.

Part way through '6 Underground'..visitors arrived, watching suspended till tomorrow.
Marvelous, I always enjoy Ryan Reynolds.
Spoof / black comedy of a ghost team taking out the worlds worst characters, something often governents wont do to protect vested interests, extraordinarily highly charged beginning with a typical destructive car chase scene, fast paced comical at times, some smut, plenty o great one liners.. excellent stuff.
I really liked it too. Some funny moments.

Also watched The Irishman and enjoyed that but it was a tad long.
Next up will be John Wick 3.

I tried watching The King but gave up, it just wasn't working for me

Not last night, but this afternoon! First trip to the cinema in 2+ years, I think.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Nothing surprising, usual Star Wars fare. But then I love Star Wars... ^_^ Plus there was a trailer for the new Star Trek: Picard series starting soon which put a big smile on my face too!
