1949 cycling drama film, A Boy a Girl and a Bike, that i'd previously recorded after Blue Hills mentioned it on here.
Not something i'd normally watch, but i quite enjoyed it and had a laugh at the dated filming techniques and the script . It sort of reminded me of a Famous Five story with adults instead of kids, i kept expecting someone to say "lashings of ginger beer" when they were camping.
The 20 something Honor Blackman looked particularly gorgeous in it.

The Chaser - Korean serial murderer thriller, lost of hammer violence, great cinematography, one of the best foot chases in the history of cinema 5/5

The yellow sea - Korean revenge thriller, lots of bone violence, some unforgettable characters, touch too long but nevertheless gripping 4/5

Same sort of era (unusually for me) I watched Jane Eyre from 1943, with Orson Welles directing & starring. Real old school. Straight 'traditional' telling of the story, with brooding/radiant performances and stunning black & white cinematography. At one point I thought 'that's Elizabeth Taylor, surely!', but she didn't come up in the credits. Found out later it was her after all 'uncredited', despite having lines to speak. Amazing. Most movies these days there seem to be credits for the chap who parks the sound recordist's car.

Stunning she looked an all...

Pain and glory - Almodovar once said anything that's not autobiography is plagiarism. Judged by that it is his truly original work. Based on directors life, the movie follows him in the twighlight of his career. With broken health, new addictions, coming across long lost love of his life Banderas gives his best role (apart from Desperado), Cruz is fantastic as always. My favourite of the last year 5/5

Howl's moving castle - my daughter loves Studio Ghibli, and wanted to re-watch this staggeringly beautiful if utterly incoherent masterwork. Makes no sense, has no plot or structure, essentially a succession of largely unrelated scenes, but you really don't mind: it's just so gorgeous.
