'71 on Channel 4 player. Really excellent film about a young solider deployed to Belfast. Lots of recognisable faces in the cast. Highly recommended.

It's a good watch, set in the early days of "The Troubles"

Del Toro's version of Frankenstein.

Really good, in quite a bonkers way! Probably my favourite GDT film - I suspect the source material kinda focused the story-line more than in previous fillums.

if anyone else has seen it: do the ice-bound scandi sailors get subtitles?? The download we watched didn't have them - but I don't think we missed much.
It was mostly aaaaaargh

There are subtitles on Netflix, but it's nothing important.

I seem to remember switching subtitles on and off again for specific parts. That is a bugbear of mine as I've watched a few films where the foreign language is important but not subtitled. I gather there is a new (ish?) trend for watching with subtitles permanently on.

Starring the late and sadly missed Philip Seymour Hoffman....one of my fave actors
Id forgotten how disturbing this film was ! I mean it's a great film and there's some humour in there but no denying it leaves you a tad uncomfortable.

Witness For The Prosecution. Cracking.

Is that the Charles Laughton film?
If so, I agree it is superb

Troll 2 (Netflix). 6/10. I loved the first one because it had a very simple nordic fairytale feel to it, and didn't feel to "American". The sequel however has been put through a Hollywood machine, complete with daft characters who do nothing but come out with stupid cliche lines. Having said that, if you like monster movies then it's ok. The ending is entirely stupid

In the end they have to drop a large plastic container of holy water into the trolls mouth to kill it. Dropped from that height into a thing made of stone and ice would have been more than enough to rupture the plastic container, but instead they thought the only option was to attach a grenade to it, meaning one guy sacrificed his life to pull the pin, when he could have just dropped it and survived

Sinners.

OKish but it's almost 2 films in one. Starts off as a decent thriller type with overtones of racism in southern America then morphs into a supernatural vampire thing.

Black Bag

A stellar cast with Michael Fassbinder, Cate Blanchett, Pierce Brosnan etc.

Very good spy thriller. Not much action but very good.
