Heat, with Pacino and DeNiro. One of those films that I'd seen bits of but never got round to watching from the start.

Incredible cast and mostly a great watch. Felt a little contrived at times how Pacino was able to get across the city in about 30 seconds so the protagonists could come together.

Probably could have been 30 minutes shorter. The back story of the guy on probation for example was a bit unnecessary. DeNiro love story bits a little weird too.

Glad to have finally watched it properly. 8/10.

Did you know that Andy McNab, the famous SaSman, was the technical advisor for the bank heist shoot out?

Not only that, the USMC have used that scene in training as a textbook example of the importance of weapons drills in combat.

Interesting, no I didn't know. Was definitely a major shootout. Not quite sure how many innocent bystanders were mowed down - a number of them seemed determined to run into the line of fire!

Freaky Tales on Prime. Obviously a B-movie by title and premise. Think Magnolia meets Tarantino. Doesn't hit Magnolia levels though.
Best watched under the influence and with an appreciation of late 80s American culture. I enjoyed it with all of that in mind.

The Veteran, 2011, with Toby Kebbell & Brian Cox. Army veteran back from the wars, and unable to find employment falls in with a bad crowd. Engaging.

I saw most of Village of the Giants a few days ago.

To be honest, I don't think I have ever seen a film like it - I cannot explain, but please read the wiki article.

This is a quote from one of the actors (Tommy Kirk) : "It's kind of a crazy movie but the production values are pretty good and it sort of holds together. I could have done without the dancing ducks, though."

the new captain america with the red hulk , felt just like them cashing in on the mcu cash cow .The special effects as usual were good but as with the later cgi iron man i find some of the costume stuff a bit to slick as i actually preferred it when some of the stuff was a real suit rather than "nanotech"

'71 on Channel 4 player. Really excellent film about a young solider deployed to Belfast. Lots of recognisable faces in the cast. Highly recommended.
