Frankenstein (2025) on Netflix.
Well known story with some very good touches but the first 1-1/2 hours is over long in my opinion and would have benefitted from some editing. The main cast were a bit wooden too although Jacob Elordi deserves a special mention for his performance as the creature.

I Swear, worth catching before it disappears, Doesn't pull any punches, either literally or metaphorically. Super cast, apart from MP's ropey Scottish accent.

Yeah I think that's fair, but then Del Toro does have a habit of gothic indulgence.

I haven't watched the 1994 version in ages so will have to give it a viewing, I always felt it was unfairly maligned, although I reckon Frankenstein is probably the least glamorous of all the peak goth stories and hardest to adapt.

Remains of the Day on Iplayer. Had never got round to watching it before. Always thought it might be a bit slow but really found it superb. A supreme bit of filmmaking with a stellar cast.

Modern Russian biopic on t’YouTube of his war/post war decade, leading up to the introduction of the weapon. Fairly niche, but with Russian maudlin (sic) love interest and (satisfyingly) period correct vehicles/equipment. Apparently he was somewhat obsessed with firearms. Who knew?
Does give the sense of Russia (like America) being large amounts of bugger all, and the differences (and similarities) of Communist and Capitalist systems, but is notable for how quiet it is about the actual -development- of the AK.

Watched Mickey 17 as we had read the book and enjoyed it.
What a poor adaptation of a book, they tried to turn it into a comedy by including a dictator style character clearly based on Trump and hugely hammed up by Mark Ruffalo.
Avoid!

Went to see The Running Man last night at the cinema, quite enjoyed it.
Obviously a lot different to the original, more updated for today's market.

The general public are now included in the hunt, not confined to the game zone either, the runners can and should go as far as they can to escape capture!

7/10.

Fantastic 4 first steps.

Dreadful fake murican accent from Vanessa Kirby, and poor CGI for depicting Ben Grimm ruined it for me. Shame, because the retro looking alternative future looked cool.

5/10. Watchable, barely.
