Ouch!!!
Project Hail Mary is closer to Star Wars or Lord of the Rings.
The Martian and Artemis, both by Andy Weir are both far fetched, but within what's possible according to the laws of physics. Project Hail Mary is closer to Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. It is a nice entertaining fantasy book/movie.
The Damned United, on Iplayer. An excellent performance by Michael Sheen as Brian Clough.
I generally don't bother with reviews so have not even tried IMDB but I noticed that Wikipedia page for most films have a "Reception" section which summarises press review reactions as well as Rotten Tomatoes audience feedback and sometimes other audience review summary sites.p.s. Anyone else noticed that you cannot read imdb reviews without creating an account now ?
I hadn't, but just checked...Yes, that's true. It looks like it is an attempt to stop A.I. bots leaving fake reviews?!p.s. Anyone else noticed that you cannot read imdb reviews without creating an account now ?
Quadrophenia
I had seem it before many decades ago, albeit after came out, but on rewatching really appreciated just how good it is. A very young Phil Daniels superb in the lead as a young mod trying to rebel but still very much wanting to belong to a tribe. Portrays the excitement (for some) of the violence between mods and rockers, without glamorising the stupidity and hooliganism of it all. Pace, acting, and visuals first class. Apparently the film was a few years after the rock opera album it is based on. Excellent cast includes Ray Winston, Sting, Lesley Ash, Toyah, and many more who went on to be stars or sucessful character actors. I thought it stood the test of time rather better than Tommy which which we also saw recently. The Tommy movie is a through-sung as an opera, whilst Quadrophenia is a conventional movie with a soundrack.
an enjoyable film, I think it must have come out circa 1978/79 around the time of the Mod revival, it was all the rage at high school
