Terms of Endearment. Enjoyed it a lot. Jack Nicholson was never more Jack Nicholson. Makes a great double act with Shirley Maclaine. A well-crafted 7/10.

I’m sure most on here have seen it, but it was a first for me. Great film, I enjoyed it a lot. Loved the Obree bike.

I know these films are sensationalised to hold viewer’s interest, but the look at Obree’s determination to succeed and his battles with mental health were inspiring.

Big thumbs up for this film.

The Pacifier.

Even by the standards of Vin Dieselparticulatefilter the acting was wooden. Remember when I caught mymlove spuds in my zip and the first brigade had to use acetelyne to free me? That was funnier.

0/10. If you waste electricity watching this you're a menace to society. I only did it so you don't have to.

Life on the Road.

Yet more cringe inducing shenanigans from David Brent. I watched most of it through my fingers but ultimately enjoyed it. Well worth a watch if you fondly endured The Office.

Ghost Rider.

Nicholas Cage with an assortment of dodgy wigs. Deep gravely voices uttering cliched quips. Fire. Explosions. Stunts. Fire. The Devil. Motorbikes, some wise old geezer who really knows what's going on. Stretched choppers. Motocross bikes.

Formulaic comic book drivel - the kind of rubbish I love! Break out the beer and cheesy Doritos.

7/10.

Arrival.

I wish it hadn't arrived. Dreadful tosh. What could have been an interesting film was spoiled by many things.
In no particular order: loud music / deep resonant alieny type noises over quietly spoken dialogue, actors mumbling, stereotypical army types macho-ing about the place, super advanced aliens spraying watery ink to communicate ?? WTF? Helicopters zooming left right and centre pointlessly, vague storyline, the hoary old trope of powerful nations ignoring what would be the most astonishing development in all human history and worrying only about petty squabbles.

Oh and ....I still don't know what she said that saved the day. Mercyfully I didn't pay to watch it.

Edit: @gbb Just read your review. ^_^ Sorry but it didn't get me at all.

I watched 2 films on Sunday:

1. "What we did on our holiday" starring Billy Connolly and that Scottish bloke off Dr Who. A really funny, sad and thought-provoking Brit film. I'd recommend.

2. "About Time" starring Bill Nighy. Quite a nice story with a hint of Sci-Fi. Quite sad as well. A good cast; I've not seen Nighy in many films but I warmed to him very much, even though he is nothing like my Dad, but I imagine quite a few Dads are like that.

Just like Interstellar - a great film, rendered unwatchable because of the lead actor mumbling and farting his way through the dialogue.
