I had guests the other day and one is a Tom Cruise fan. She wanted to watch one of his films. We nearly watched the latest Midget Improbable Mission Impossible, but instead settled for Knight and Day.

My review: It lived down to expectations!

Edit: I need to learn to give-up on a film as soon as it becomes apparent it's rubbish (which in the case of G20 is within 5 mins of the beginning title sequence).
I gave up during the trailer. 😂

Personal taste: I find his "action" films (where he is proud of doing the stunts, etc.) dull and daft.

But he has done some films I enjoy, one example "American Made" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Made_(film) (not a true story but inspired by the life of Barry Seal)

Gladiator II.

Much like Gladiator really, but with even more obvious CGI.

Not the worst sequel out there, but still mediocre enough to make you wonder why they bothered.

Redeemed only by the rather pleasant Connie Nielsen.

5/10.

I had never heard of that one. i might suggest it to the fan of mighty micro man.

PS It has been removed from Netflix UK and costs £3.49 to rent on Prime. I will wait until I spot it on free to view!

Should have slipped Tropic Thunder on and see if they recognised him :okay:

The Birdcage with Robin Williams. Great writing and luxuriously OTT performances.

Jafaican - 0/10 or 10/10 depending on how you look at it.

I don't really know how to describe this. It's up there with The Room in terms of sheer brain altering awfulness. Needs to be seen to be believed, and I'm glad I saw it at the cinema.

There Will Be Blood.

Daniel Day Lewis doesn't do crap films, and so it is with this belter. Set early in the 20th and oil prospector makes good and becomes more warped the wealthier he gets until be butts heads with the religious owners of a ranch he wants to buy to dig for oil.

A very well deserved 9/10, but be warned- it's a fillum you need to sit and properly watch.

One that I really need to rewatch. I remember it as being very slow yet very intense, which is strange. And yes, there will be blood.
