What film did you watch last night?

A Working Man.

The Stafe gets jolly upset about something and goes off torturing and killing bad guys. A lot of them.

As usual, not much of a plot and the production somehow looks cheap.

Poor weapons drills ruin it even further.

4/10.

I watched that last week, over 2 nights. I gave up halfway through on the first night because it was pretty poor. I had time to kill the following evening and wasted that time on the second half of the film rather than doing something more entertaining like counting the grains of sand on a beach.

Wild Card was better, maybe 5.5/10.

Hummingbird (later renamed Redemption) was decent enough, but Blitz is far and away the best fillum in which he stars. Still plenty of bad dudes getting slapped and the fisticuffs is more "realistic", but the addition of Paddy Considine as a foil, as well as a surprisingly good plot with a brilliant twist at the end, makes it a surprisingly gripping action-thriller.

Slade in Flame following Mark Kermode's review on their podcast.
Best I could give is a, meh. And that's being generous. Not for the first time I am calling his judgment into question.

Maybe Kermode is judging Slade in Flame within its genre.

It's not a great movie but compared to many other pop-star movies, such as Can't Stop The Music (Village People), Cool as Ice (Vanilla Ice), Spice World (Spice girls), Bula Quo (Status Quo)... Slade in Flame is worthy of an Oscar nomination at least. OK maybe not an Oscar but it's definitely one of the better pop-star movies I've seen.

If you want to see something really really really atrocious, then Bula Quo is the one to watch.

Really good film is Blitz, I'd say his best.

Almost went to see Working Man at the pictures the other week but was outvoted, looks like I had a lucky escape 😀

Since we're on a Stath trip, Revolver.

Truly awful, mostly because it tries so hard.

I quite like the Stath though, doesn't try to be anything he's not and sticks to what he knows, and in some of the lighter style of action films he almost looks to be smirking as he dances through the over choreographed fights scenes without taking it too seriously.
